Johnymac What you’re describing is a completely normal condition for all new instruments. It usually takes up to a year or even longer after production for the tuning to become stable. Another thing to consider is that the instrument spends about a month at sea before it reaches, for example, from Europe to America. Even though climate-controlled containers are used, the instrument still takes a real beating. In a new instrument during manufacturing, between the first and second voicing—spaced at least 3 weeks apart—the tuning can drop by as much as 100 cents.
