I tuned a Yamaha C7 today, and it went pretty well. But I had some difficulty below C2 and above A6.
I was wondering if the reason for this might be because the microphone in my iPhone is not really a "high-fidelity" device.

I have a Neumann U87, which is a recording-studio-quality microphone, and I was thinking about trying to use it when I do my next tuning. If I connect it to my iPhone, will the internal microphone switch off automatically, and listen only to the Neumann? Or do I need to disable the iPhone mic in the iPhone Settings? How should I set the Controls in the Piano Scope Settings for "Audio Input"? Thank you so much.

Jaco If you connect an external mic via USB, it will automatically be used instead of the internal mic. But using external microphones will rarely get you better tunings as the internal mics are good enough if you place your device close to the note you are tuning. Can you describe what kind of difficulties you had below C2 and above A6?
