Hi everybody! I have been busy working on version 1.5 of pianscope which is going into public beta testing today. If you are curious and want to check it out, you can use this link to join: https://testflight.apple.com/join/qIzcnoY8

It uses Apple's TestFlight app to install the beta version. This builds each run for 14 days. If you want to go back to the release version, you have to simply re-download it in the regular App Store App.

Note: To use the test build of pianoscope you need to make an in-app purchase, even if you have already purchased the app. But don't worry, this will just be a test transaction and nothing will be charged for it.

The main change in this new version is a new algorithm for calculating the current pitch in the tuning view. It should make the indicator and strobe more stable especially when tuning simpler pianos with lots of fluctuating partials. The new algorithm uses more partials and combines them differently. For some instruments, this can result in the bass notes being tuned slightly flatter. But this should be a beneficial change in these cases.

You can switch between the old (v1) and the new (v2) pitch algorithms in the indicator settings. By default, v2 is active. With the "Show comparison" switch you can even enable a comparison of both. When activated, the pitch calculated by the other algorithm is shown as a gray indicator line in addition to the red indicator. During the beta phase, this makes it easier to spot the difference in behaviour between the two. This comparison feature will however not be included in the final release.

This version of pianoscope also allows to individually adjust the size of the text attached to the pitch indicator.

Also fixed: When pianscope was started while a phone call was active, an error was presented.
