Where do you place your iPhone or iPad during the mood?
Have you bought special brackets, covers, stands?
Or did you make a DIY solution?
I often use my tuning fork…😊

I’ve made a triangular stand with a Nillkin magnet to hold my iPhone 12. Two sides are covered with yoga mat. It has a 16850 li-ion cell with a step up regulator to output 5v so I can keep the phone charged while tuning. I used to have wireless charging but too inefficient and the phone got too warm.

Here are the photos. The stand is a bit rough as it has had a few modifications over time. It is made with Perspex or Plexiglass sheet 3mm thickness. The converter: Mini Voltage Boost Converter Step-Up Module, 5V 8V 9V 12V

I use this type of phone holder. I bought something on Temu and then modified the adapter for tuning (different thread) + adjusted the thread in the holder—China often uses Whitworth threads, whereas the EU mainly uses metric threads.

On grand pianos I just put the phone on the tuning pins right next to where I‘m tuning. On uprights I put it on the balance rail pins or the keys. I move it along as I go. Never felt I need something else. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I need extra time from my iPhone especially when I am doing lots of tunings at school. My holder as in post from 4 October 22 is still the same.

Rick Rick, if you’re using an iPhone 12 or later, you could use a MagSafe power bank attached to a mount that’s fixed to the piano. That way, you can simply snap your phone onto the MagSafe and charge it at the same time. I’m planning to go for this setup too, but only after I get a new phone—probably an iPhone 16 (Pro) for my birthday.

Milan, thanks for the suggestion. I’ve given up wireless charging because of heat issues when using a case. Also I have an investment in two 16850 lithium ion cells and the inverter. You will like the16pro.
