I think the answer is the lower notes need to be played slower with silence in between. Another question: how does one adjust the input level. Is there an optimum setting?

Since (1614) it has been much better than before.

It would be nice if I could choose the order of the measurement as with the measurement of the inharmonicity.

Frank Illenberger Same issue on iPhone14. Tried duplicating the pianoscope folder in files app. Still not able to search by other fields.
Will it possibly work with new files created?

JBrasell Whis iOS version do you run? Where do you store your documents? In the iCloud Drive folder or in the a local device folder? Can you try to change a value in one of the instrument fields of an existing document and then try again to search for this new value?

Frank Illenberger Frank Illenberger I’m running 18.3.1 on iPhone 14.
It appears my files are located on iCloud Drive Folder.
I changed the model number on a file and then searched for it. Still unable to find it.
I did have one result that populated under Yamaha that did not have yamaha in the name. It was a duplicate of a file that had Yamaha in the name. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some beta testers were reporting problems with octave jumping in the automatic key selection, especially with using multiple microphones. In the latest TestFlight build 1622, I tried to fix this issue.

JBrasell Thank you for the information. So far, I could not reproduce your problem on any of my devices. But I've researched the issue, and it could be that this is a system-wide search indexing problem in iOS 18. There is a thread in the Apple discussion forums in which over 300 people say they have similar Spotlight indexing problems.
So it would be interesting for me to know if other searches are affected on your device as well. For example: Can you find a Pages document by searching for contained text?

In the discussion thread, they mention a workaround that solved the problem for some people. It is easy to do, so trying it could also shed more light on the issue. This is what they suggest:

Go to - Settings/Privacy and Security/Location Services/System Services/Suggestions and Search: Turn the switch to off then on. It will take a while (the more stuff you have, the longer it takes), but it will re-index your entire device. Hope I remembered it right and that it helps.

I followed the instructions in the video to toggle my suggestions and search in location services. That yielded no new results in the search functionality.
I then duplicated my iCloud Pianoscope folder to “on my phone” and changed storage for the app to “on my phone” hoping that if the files were on my phone, they would become searchable by the additional fields. This also yielded no new results. I then repeated the process of toggling my suggestion and search location services off and on Including restart of the phone. I still haven’t found the solution.

JBrasell Thanks for testing all this. Can you search for files from other apps by content on your device? Do you have any other iOS devices, like an iPad or so on which you could test it?

I’m not sure what the problem is, but I have the fix. I was noticing before that some of the files were populating by searching other fields and they were files that I had recently opened to view the instrument info so that I could test searching for them. However, it wasn’t files that I had opened, it was files that I had made changes to. When I opened any old files, I was prompted to use V2 or switch to V3 algorithm. If I had changed it to V3 it would update the file. A few minutes later, seemingly randomly it would be searchable.
I’ve only made 2 brand new files with Version 3 and they both were searchable. So I’m guessing any new files are initially indexed properly, but files created in version 2 have to be altered with Version 3 and then they are indexed properly to search by alternative instrument fields. There is a tiny bit of lag, say 15 or 20 seconds.
I’m going to keep testing, but it seems to be as simple as making any change in the file.

Most of the other files on my phone are audio or pdf. I’ve searched for common words and gotten results from various files. It seems like it’s working, but I don’t think I have an appropriate sample base to determine. I’ll just say it seems to pull results from within other files.

I may be able to run Testflight with Pianoscope on my son’s iPad. I’ll try later tonight.

Hi Frank,
my search is working normally. When I click on the magnifying glass, Finder opens, and the file is briefly highlighted. That way, I can see it, and when I click on the file, it opens in Pianoscope. iP11

JBrasell Brilliant. This might indeed be a bug, that v2 files are not indexed. I will look into this. Thank you.

Frank Illenberger I went through ALL of my files and selected V3 because it’s great and I feel confident it’s a good choice. On files where that wasn’t an option, I put a few spaces in the notes. Some of the files are still being pesky. Perhaps spaces aren’t sufficient enough of a change.
Still testing, but I’m getting there. I don’t know if that helps anyone other than me 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Should files that aren’t tuning files be showing up in the search for any reason??

JBrasell Unfortunately, I could not reproduce any indexing problems with v2 documents. On my devices they are all indexed correctly. So I still think that the issue you are observing could be an iOS system bug.

Where are your files stored? iCloud or on the device?

I’m getting mixed results, but slowly they are coming around. I’m probably going to more trouble than I should. But, I think this a great feature and I feel like it’s the way it SHOULD work.
It sounds like it won’t be an issue for everyone, probably specific to certain devices.

It is very unsatisfying that we currently don't understand what is going on on your device. I've tested indexing with documents stored on iCloud Drive and in local folders. Both worked. Even when I edit a file on a Mac and the changes are synced to my iPhone via iCloud Drive, the document gets indexed a couple of seconds after the edit.

What seems to be the case with mine is that once I edit a document and then it shows me the icon that it’s updating that file to the cloud after about 10 seconds it will show up in a search result. Even the files where I went through and put a period in the notes… Possibly because I was doing so many rapid fire that they didn’t have time to update properly to the iCloud, as of today some of those weren’t working. So, what I’m doing now is sorting my files by oldest to newest (to keep track of which ones I have done ) and opening the file And looking for something specific like the serial number that I can search for and seeing if it’s searchable. . I’m a racing the period that I put in the notes while I’m at it then when I exit out, I can search for something specific to that file and wait about 10 seconds and then it will pop up.
